The ASE Foundation’s Valvular Assessment Leading to Unexplored Echocardiographic Stratagems (VALUES) program was a teaching and research event designed to assess the full spectrum of abnormalities seen in rheumatic valvular heart disease using state of the art echocardiographic modalities. ASEF team members worked alongside faculty at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences in Bangalore, India to shed new light on one of the world’s oldest diseases.
Over the course of four days, ten cardiovascular sonographers, five physicians, 30 Indian trainees and local staff imaged and assessed 256 patients with rheumatic heart disease.
